Make a Halloween paper cutting window display with October’s box 🎃
October’s Curious Octopus Art box is all about paper cutting, and this month we’re making a Halloween window display.
Think spooky silhouettes in the window, with the light from inside shining through as the evenings get darker. It’s a lovely project to spend an October evening on, and you’ll have your display ready in time for Halloween.
If you’d like to join us, you’ll need to order your box before the end of September.
Here’s a mock up of how our Halloween paper cutting display could look in a window. It gives you an idea of the effect we’re going for, rather than showing a finished project.
Something a little spooky for your window with aHalloween paper cutting window display
I love the way paper cutting works with light. Cut out a shape, hold it up against a window and the details suddenly become much clearer. For a Halloween scene, those dark silhouettes are just right.
The mock up gives you a feel for it, with bats flying around a haunted house, bare branches and a cobweb tucked into the corner. Imagine walking up to a house on an October evening and spotting that in the window!
You can start thinking about where you’d like to put yours. A front window is a lovely place for people passing by to enjoy it too.

We’ll be getting together to work on the project during our live session on Wednesday 14th October.
Pop the date in your diary and give yourself some time to sit down and make. Get a cuppa ready, clear a bit of space on the table and join me for an evening of paper cutting.
I know how easy it is to put creative plans off when there’s always another job waiting. Having a project ready and a date in the diary gives you a reason to actually take that time for yourself.
And at the end, you’ll have something to put up and enjoy for the rest of the month.
When will the October boxes be sent?
All October boxes will be sent out together at the beginning of October and should be with you just before the live.
