If you’ve ever looked at string art and thought that looks amazing but I wouldn’t know where to start, this is exactly what we’re doing this month at Curious Octopus.
Tonight at 7.30pm, we’re going live to create a geometric string art design, and you’re invited to join us.
Whether you’re crafting along with your kit or just watching to see what it’s all about, it’s a relaxed, step-by-step workshop designed to make something that looks impressive without feeling overwhelming.
What is String Art?
String art is a technique where you use pins and thread to create patterns and shapes on a board. By wrapping the thread in a specific sequence, a design slowly appears — and it’s one of those crafts that’s surprisingly calming once you get into it.
In this workshop, we’ll be:
Placing and securing pins into your board
Learning how the pattern builds
Wrapping thread to create a clean, geometric design
Bringing everything together into a finished piece
It’s part creative focus, part switch-off time, and very satisfying by the end.

What You’ll Need
If you’ve got your Curious Octopus String Art Kit, you’ll have everything you need ready to go.
You might also want:
Scissors or thread snippers
If you’re doing the more detailed version, make sure your threads are prepped before we start so you can follow along smoothly.
Beginner or More Detailed Version — You Choose
One of the best things about this project is that you can keep it simple or take it a step further.
Beginner version No prep needed. Just bring your box and follow along.
More detailed version For a more delicate finish, you’ll need to:
Cut around 4 metres of each thread (about two door heights)
Separate your embroidery threads into single strands
This can take a bit of time, so it’s best to do it before the live.
How to Watch the Live Workshop
You can join us live at 7.30pm tonight on either platform:
You can craft along, bring another project, or just watch and see how it all works.
Not Joining This Month?
That’s absolutely fine.
You’re still very welcome to come along, watch the process, and get a feel for how the workshops work. Lots of people do this before deciding to join in.

Each month is a different craft, with everything you need included and a live workshop to guide you through it.
Why Try a Creative Workshop Like This?
It’s not about being perfect or “good at art”.
It’s about:
Taking a couple of hours for yourself
Learning something new
Making something with your hands
Switching off from everything else for a bit
And ending up with something you can actually look at and think, I made that.
