Start with a simple pattern and work through it one section at a time. The project combines placing pins with wrapping thread to build up a geometric design.
What is String Art?
String art is a technique where you use pins and thread to create patterns and shapes on a board. By wrapping the thread in a specific sequence, a design slowly appears. It’s one of those crafts that’s surprisingly calming once you get into it.

What You’ll Need
For this project, gather your wooden board, pins, thread and the tools specified in your kit instructions. You may also want:
Scissors or thread snippers
For a more delicate version, prepare the embroidery threads before you start wrapping.
Beginner or More Detailed Version — You Choose
One of the best things about this project is that you can keep it simple or take it a step further.
Beginner version: Start with the thread as supplied and a straightforward pattern.
More detailed version: For a more delicate finish, you’ll need to:
Cut around 4 metres of each thread (about two door heights)
Separate your embroidery threads into single strands
Prepare these strands before wrapping so you can concentrate on the pattern.
